Emergency First Aid at Work
Armagh City Hotel | £80
The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is awarded by RLSS UK and is suitable for a wide range of workplace and community settings. For Northern Ireland, first aid provision should be considered in line with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982, as amended, and HSENI guidance.
EFAW may be suitable where a workplace first aid needs assessment identifies the need for an emergency first aider. Employers should ensure their first aid provision is appropriate for their setting, workforce and activities.
The RLSS UK Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond quickly and effectively to a first aid emergency in the workplace - potentially saving a life before emergency services arrive. The course is relevant across a wide range of workplaces and community settings, not just the leisure or aquatics sector.

About this qualification
This course is delivered using a blended learning approach. This means learners complete part of the course online before attending face-to-face practical training.
The online element is completed through the learner’s RLSS UK Account and must be finished before the in-person training begins. This helps learners build their knowledge in advance and make the most of the practical training sessions.
Please note that completion of the online learning is mandatory. Learners who have not completed this element will not be able to attend the face-to-face part of the course.
All RLSS UK Awards and Qualifications must be completed within the required timeframe for the course. Learners should ensure they allow enough time to complete the online learning before attending practical training.
The EFAW is suitable for anyone who requires a first aid qualification to fulfil their role in the workplace.
It is particularly relevant for:
- Employees who need workplace first aid training
- Employers and small business teams
- Community and voluntary organisations
- Sports clubs and activity providers
- Customer-facing teams
- Individuals looking for a recognised basic first aid qualification
- Leisure, fitness and aquatic staff where relevant
No previous first aid experience is required to attend.
