Early Years CPD: Rethinking Swim Teaching
The Early Years CPD are designed to support swim teachers and operators in developing more effective, engaging, and purposeful lessons for young children.
Across Ireland, there is a growing gap between traditional lesson delivery and what modern, child-centred practice tells us works. This CPD experience is built to bridge that gap, bringing together leading specialists to share practical approaches grounded in real teaching environments.
The day combines classroom-based learning with pool-based application, giving you the opportunity to see, experience, and reflect on different approaches in action. Whether you choose to take part in the water or observe and analyse, the focus remains the same — helping you build confidence in how you deliver your lessons.
You will explore how to move beyond activity-led sessions and instead design lessons that:
- Support real progression and skill development
- Use structured play and guided discovery effectively
- Recognise the sensory and emotional experience of the water
- Build confidence, engagement, and independence in swimmers
This is a small-group experience, designed to prioritise interaction, discussion, and practical understanding. The aim is not just to share ideas, but to help you leave with clear, usable approaches that can be implemented immediately.
